About Roho

“Who” organizes your safari experience and looks after you throughout this life-changing journey is one of the most important questions to consider when booking your trip.

At Roho Safaris, we’re proud to say the “who” is us – Meaghan Lee, Peter Bruins, our family, and our experienced staff. You’ll be working directly with us through your entire safari experience and proudly, we’re confident we can do it better than anyone else. Having a family history in Africa that spans over 100 years provides us with that assuredness – and we hope it provides you with the same sense of security and comfort, too. The experience we, Peter and Meaghan, gained at the top levels of sports, entertainment, and hospitality provide us with a unique perspective when organizing tours. We understand three major points make a successful adventure

  • Travel logistics and the safari experience need to be executed flawlessly

  • When a situation arises, it needs to be managed quickly and professionally

  • Small details and fun surprises are what inspire memories that last a lifetime

You can count on us to deliver against all three of these points with the help of our amazing team, several of which our Bruins family members with their own ventures in Tanzania.

I grew up in Northern Tanzanian in Arusha Region. My village is situated on the border of Arusha National Park, so nature began to touch my heart since I was a young boy. My grandfather was an animal expert, so he taught me a lot about Tanzania’s wildlife. From there, I started to study about science, and after finishing primary school I moved to Kilimanjaro. After high school, I joined the Wildlife College. After finishing my studies, I worked for the government and began my career in guiding, which I now have 15 years experience in.

Along with driving safaris, I also specialize in hiking safari, boat safari, bike safari, night safaris. In my spare time, I love to travel.

  • Director of Maasai Steppe Conservancy Ltd.

Christiaan, Peters younger brother, is the heart and soul behind Maasai Steppe Conservancy, a family owned and operated wildlife conservancy in Lolkisale, Tanzania.

Throughout the year, Christiaan and his hardworking team face many challenges that Mother Nature throws at the 8500 acre conservancy. From harsh dry seasons, to heavy rains, little equipment, and the threats of poachers, the team works tirelessly to maintain a safe, healthy area for the wildlife to thrive within.

My name is John Mndolwa well known as Bingo, I was born in Arusha Tanzania. When I was a young boy of only 4 years old, my dad took me to Tarangire National Park. I have beautiful memories of seeing elephants, zebras and the most beautiful sunset when we were driving back home in the back of the Land Rover. From that point, I realized that being close to nature is where I belong. I took my guiding course and started working in 2010 as a professional tour guide. I am now working with Roho Safaris. I speak Swahili and English fluently.

Therefore, Roho provides a unique and personal safari to its guests, taking them to and from the beaten track, and accommodating them into the Tanzanian lifestyle, culture, beauty and comfort. It is not only about providing tailored safaris, but sharing the magic of Tanzania that the founders get to continuously get to know and love, on a very personal basis.

When you travel with Roho, you will not only feel satisfied by your unforgettable safari, but you will also feel you had been genuinely taken care of from the day you inquired about booking, to the day you take your return flight home.

Core Values: Conservation, Sustainability, and High Quality Service. Founders Peter and Meaghan are extremely passionate about wildlife, the conservation of wildlife, as well as sustainability; having devoted years to working for an electric motorsport series, the first net-carbon sporting organization and series.

Roho will take all possible measures of reducing its carbon footprint by restricting the use of plastic, selecting camps & lodges that match Roho's beliefs, and with a long-term plan of introducing electric safari vehicles. To contribute to conservation, a percentage of each booking will be donated to Maasai Steppe Conservancy, to which can also be included as an exclusive option in select itineraries, allowing the guest to witness the wildlife they've personally provided protection to.
