roho (kiswahili) [ro-ho] noun
β’ spirit, soul, heart β’
One singular word from the Swahili language captures Peter and Meaghan Bruinsβ family connection to Tanzania: Roho. Meaning spirit, soul, or heart, it reflects the Bruins familyβs deep admiration for Tanzania and their desire to share it with the world.
For over 100 years, Peterβs family has called Africa home. The family's history in the region began in the 1920s when Peterβs great-grandparents established their home there. Today, the familyβs passion is embodied in their 8,500-acre wildlife conservancy, the Maasai Steppe Conservancy, located just three hours from Arusha. Roho Safaris is a proud sponsor of this conservancy.
Maintaining and protecting the area and its wildlife is a major focus at Maasai Steppe Conservancy. Since its establishment in 2008, the wildlife population has steadily increased, thanks to the familyβs dedicated efforts.
Peter and his partner Meaghan represent the latest generation of the family, and they have expanded the familyβs legacy by establishing Roho Safaris, which invites the world to experience Tanzania as they do. Whether joining a safari organized by Peter and Meaghan or visiting the conservancy managed by Peterβs brother Christiaan, adventure seekers can experience Tanzania like locals.
A safari with Roho is more than just a trip; itβs a journey with a deeper connection to the local people, places, and animals. Guests directly impact the family-run wildlife conservancy, leaving Tanzania with a life-changing experience.
